Inspired by Sir Mark Cubbon and the tunnel drilling machine this project takes elements from the past and the present to create a reconstructed image of Bangalore. The mural spans across the ramp of the metro tunnel with elements of Mark Cubbon on his horse mashed up with forms of the machine used to drill through Cubbon Park. The bold lines and colors add a splash of zest to the bleak walls of the metro tunnel.
A graphic artist with a bold and distinctive style, Fabrice Grolaire was formally trained as a product designer, first in France, and then in Bangalore at Srishti, indulging in graffiti and street art as only a hobby. Taking to walls with ease, Fabrice conceptualizes and executes murals by drawing inspiration from elements within the context of his site, creating graphic compositions that he then executes with his preferred medium of spray paint. Whether in his sketches or murals, Fabrice’s style is strongly inspired by the aesthetic of graffiti art, thus representing his themes in a striking yet playful manner.
